Podcast Monday: Cooking with the Moms

PodcastlogoIf you are like me, I am always looking for something positive and useful to listen to during the day.  I used to listen to music and talk radio during the day while I did daily chores or had down time, but a lot of the talk I had listened to started to become negative in tone and subject … and the last thing I need is negative talk to set the tone to my home.  So I turned to iTunes to find some great podcasts to listen to during the day that would not only be positive but would also be helpful in making my life more productive.   So I’m going to share podcasts that I find helpful here on the blog from time to time.

cookingwiththemomsThis week I discovered this wonderful podcast when I was searching in iTunes for another mom-type podcast.  Cooking with the Moms is a podcast that the Meal Makeover Moms have been doing for quite some time.  I am excited to discover them because now I have a whole bunch of podcasts to go through to enjoy that were released some time ago!  Janice Newell Bissex and Liz Weiss are two moms and also registered dietitians that have a mission to help families eat better. I love cooking shows, so I decided to click and listen to their podcast on Whole Grains and Gluten.  It was FULL of so much information, so much more than just getting some recipes.  If someone in your family eats gluten-free or you want to know more about whole grains, this is a great podcast.

“The moms” have also written several books, including “No Whine with Dinner:  150 Kid Tested Recipes from the Meal Makeover Moms” which had gone on my wish list as soon as I discovered it! I don’t know about you, but a lot of whining goes on at my dinner table with a few picky eaters. I am looking forward to checking out this book for some ideas on getting healthier food into my boys.

I look forward to checking out more of their podcasts this week.  Some that I have downloaded into my list include Kids and Veggies, Omega 3s, Family Mealtime Inspirations, and the ever so timely Thanksgiving Side Dishes.

That’s it for today’s podcast recommendation!  If you have a podcast that you enjoy, I’d love to hear about it in the comments.  I’m always looking for new podcasts to add to my playlist.  Have a great week!
